Chris LaTondresse is a social change executive with 18+ years experience spanning national, state, and local government and advocacy roles, including most recently Hennepin County Commissioner (the largest county in the State of Minnesota). In a message to constituents LaTondresse noted, “We don’t have a department of loneliness in Hennepin County, or a line item for social disconnection, but building strong communities, reducing isolation, and helping residents see connection as a way forward is the thread running through everything we do.” Chris has dedicated his leadership to growing winning advocacy coalitions, building powerful cross-sector partnerships, and inspiring collective action for the common good including in previous roles on his hometown school board, serving in President Obama’s Office of Faith Based and Community initiatives at USAID, and as a senior leader at The Expectations Project, a civil rights and public education advocacy organization. As Commissioner he helped secure unprecedented funding for affordable housing, placements of 35+ social workers in every police department across Hennepin’s 45 cities, and universal mental health support in public schools. Chris stepped down from as County Commissioner in September 2023 to serve as the President & CEO of Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, Minnesota’s largest non-profit developer of deeply affordable and supportive housing.
